Our Approach to Success

We have students take a preliminary test to assess their baseline score. This allows our team to determine the student’s strengths and weaknesses and create an individualized study plan. From this, we begin our weekly sessions aimed at teaching content, strategies, and improving confidence in test-taking ability. We will provide weekly homework assignments and track the progression of scores for the students. We also work with students who have learning accommodation needs, including but not limited to ADHD, OCD, dyslexia, and autism*

*We are not trained to replace or fulfill the role of educational professionals for students with learning accommodations

The Science of Private Tutoring

Investigating Test Prep Impact on Score Gains Using Quasi-Experimental Propensity Score Matching

“Among the 10 test preparation activities investigated, only the number of hours working with a private tutor or consultant had a significant impact on retest scores.”

“…Amount of time allocated to a tutor or consultant showed that students who participated in 11 hours or more with a tutor or consultant had a statistically higher ACT composite re-test score...”

Every student is different. However, my first goal is to focus on content. A majority of students that reach out to me request help with time management, but over the years I have realized that the issue usually is content 95% of the time. As we get more comfortable with the information being tested on, speed and accuracy also improve. Of course, we have strategies to work on timing as well and those get integrated into the practice tests as the students take them. Before every test they take, I make sure to walk each student through their individual process of taking the test. I have found long-term success with these methods and as long as students are willing to put in hard work, we are able to see score increases.
