FAQ
-
How much do scores increase with tutoring?
There’s no hard rule on how much scores will increase. We generally see a 3 point increase if we have enough sessions in before the test. It depends on whether students do their pre-assignments and what score range they are already in. It is more common to raise a score in the lower or mid twenties than it is to raise a score in the low to mid-thirties.
-
Is there a set number of tutoring sessions you reccommend?
How much tutoring a student needs is variable to the individual. Some of our students do as few as 2-3 sessions and some students work with us long-term over a semester. It depends on if we are working on a weekly basis or if we are trying to shoot for a really high score, depending on what scholarship or university the student is aiming for.
-
Will my student be working with multiple tutors?
No, all of our tutors are capable of tutoring all four sections of the ACT. Once a tutor has been assigned to work with a student, they continue working with the student until we have the ACT score we are shooting for.
-
What does an average session look like?
We would decide to start the student off with one particular section. For example, English. We would then assign the student an english pre-assignment. When they come to the session, we would cover all the punctuation and grammar rules. After that, we would go through the assignment, making sure to write down which rules the student is struggling with. We would track the progress over the sessions to see if the student is improving on the rules they missed initially.
-
How long is each tutoring session?
Generally, we do two hour sessions. We have found this allows us enough time to thoroughly cover a section. However, we are flexible and can break these into shorter sessions based on the student’s schedule and attention span. We most often do weekly sessions, but can adjust as necessary.
-
My student is struggling with time management. How will tutoring help them?
We focus on time management and strategies for getting through the section faster. However, we also do a thorough evaluation of content mastery because a majority of time management can be corrected by focusing on content.
-
Do you do group tutoring?
Yes, we can accommodate groups. We charge a reduced rate and run the tutoring session similarly to our individual tutoring sessions.
-
Do you tutor for all four sections of the test?
All of our tutors are capable of tutoring for all four sections of the test. All our tutors have ACT scores above a 34 and are extremely capable of covering all the material on the ACT.
-
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Absolutely. We understand that schedules are constantly changing and we are extremely accommodating. However, last minute cancellations and no-shows will be charged in full. Open communication easily fixes any need for cancellation charges.
-
Do you have students outside of NWA?
Although most of our students are in NWA, we also have students in Little Rock, Fort Smith, Siloam Springs, and other locations across Arkansas.
-
I need tutoring for my child, but your rate is too expensive. Do you offer any discounted tutoring?
While we find our rate to be fair for the premium service we provide, we never turn anyone away. Contact us and let us know your situation and we will always work with you to the best of our ability.
-
Is there a priority of what sections my students should try and focus on?
All four sections are equally important. However, we usually see quickest score increases on English and math. Reading and science take more time and practice for the students to implement the strategies.
